In this, ACA’s 30th anniversary year, it is with great pleasure we welcome Mr David Chiem as 50% owner of ACA and warmly welcome him on to the board of Actors Centre Australia as our Chairman.
David and Dean’s association and alignment is set to allow ACA to expand and spread its wings, opening ACA Singapore soon.
“3 decades from opening the doors, it is an honour to welcome and work with a man of David’s calibre to take ACA to the next level. Both of our visions on education and artistic endeavour will see the future for students, graduates and staff transform. David’s extraordinary team and education researchers are currently combining with ACA’s team to take brand ACA to an international platform.” Dean Carey, ACA CEO, Creative and Founding Director
At 14, David became the first Asian to be given a lead role on mainstream Australian television, in the internationally acclaimed drama series “Butterfly Island". After studying acting at Theatre Nepean, David once again confounded theatre audiences of the time with starring roles in what were traditionally non-Asian characters.
He worked as an actor for many years in Australian TV, Film and Radio, and during those years also graduated from UTS with a Bachelor of Communications (Filmmaking) and AFTRS with a Master’s degree in Producing.
David is also an established international author, with both fiction and non-fiction releases. Two of his books, ‘Only the Heart’ and ‘The Full Story’ were nominated for three prestigious Australian literary awards.
As a young man David was always searching for gaps in society where he initially focussed on education, and based on a pedagogy of Neuroscience, Child Psychology and Theatre, synthesising them with Education, a new education model was born.
David’s life experiences, the remarkable collaborations that he has initiated with world class experts, and his innate ability to look past the events of today and into the possibilities of tomorrow, have led him to the development of an education model for the future - (2036) The Trinity of Minds, an education model designed to prepare the children of today for an information-laden future.
From humble beginnings and founded as a research centre in Sydney in 1998, MindChamps in the 21st Century is now recognised as the number one brand for Early Education across Asia, UAE and the Middle East, with David firmly established as an international multi-award winning entrepreneur.
“With my background in the Arts and Education, I felt there was an immediate synergy between MindChamps and ACA. Together, Dean and I turn the page on a new chapter in our lives which offers an exciting world of possibilities for both Theatre and Education. “ David Chiem – Founder, Chairman and Group CEO MindChamps
ACA and MindChamps will share our future plans very soon as ACA expands and offers new opportunities for both Australian and international students.
