Matt Edgerton

Matt trained at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Acting, graduating in 1999. Matt’s theatre credits as an actor include: The Seagull (Siren Theatre Company) Romeo And Juliet, Macbeth and Actors At Work (Bell Shakespeare), Lessons In Flight (Moogalin Theatre), As You Wish and Birds In a Cage (Red Dust Theatre - NT), Love Potions (New Theatre), Little Boy (Tamarama Rock Surfers), Tales From the Arabian Nights (Theatre of Image) Tracked (Prompt Theatre), Wild Honey (Suck It and See), Plainsong (Black Swan Theatre) and Measure For Measure and The Winters Tale (Old Wives Tales) and As You Like It (WAAPA). Film credits include: Natural Selection, Outside, The Junction Boys, and Enigma. On television Matt has appeared in: All Saints, Comedy Inc, Always Greener, Water Rats.


For ABC radio Matt has voiced short stories, novels and radio plays including: The Stain on the Snow (Georges Simenon), The White Earth (Andrew McGahan), Damon, Shootings, The Time is Not Yet Ripe, Chrissy and Jules (Dorothy Hewett), Pentimento (Steven Sewell) and The Hammer of God (Louis Nowra). Matt has directed a number of performances for NIDA Open Program, ATYP and Shopfront Theatre for Young People as well as Actors At Work for Bell Shakespeare in 2009, 2010 and 2011. For stage Matt has written Midsummer Madness for Bell Shakespeare, short plays for Stories from the 428 and the full length play Habibti which received second prize in ATYP’s National Young Playwright’s Competition. He has also wrote Wesley Mission’s Suicide Prevention DVD, now used in suicide-prevention training nationwide. Matt has taught for a number of institutions was the Resident Artist In Education for Bell Shakespeare from 2007-2010.
