DiDIANE SMITH

 

Since graduating from NIDA in 1978, Diane has had a busy and varied acting career working with major state companies- the Sydney Theatre Company, RQTC, Malthouse , SATC as well as many commercial productions . She also appeared in Australia's best-known television dramas, from Skyways, The Restless Years, to Cop Shop, GP, Fire and Fallen Angels, and was well loved as Alex Fraser in A Country Practice. As presenter,Di spent ten years travelling with Seven’s “The Great Outdoors”.She has appeared in a number of films, including PJ Hogan's runaway hit film Muriel's Wedding and , more recently, “Charlie and Boots”

Since  the Great Outdoors finished on air, Di has gone back to the stage Boston Marriage, Stallion of Death and Love Song at the Darlinghurst Theatre ;The Secret of the Seven Marbles (for children) at the Seymour Center  and is currently producing and performing “Peeled” by Cathy Strickland. www.dismith-peeled.blogspot.com

At ACA , Di also teaches ‘Unlocking Shakespeare” a short course to demystify, simplify and discover why all the fuss over 400 year old plays.

Based around the work of the late Philip Parsons , the bard will never be that dusty old mystery again.
