ISABELLE ACHARD-LOBATO

Isabelle’s background is in dance and theatre performance. Trained mostly in contemporary dance styles and movement practice, she performed professionally in France, Mexico and Australia. She has taught at and created dance and movement works for the dance sector of several tertiary institutions (UWS Nepean, UNSW, Wesley Institute) as well as ATYP and the Actors Centre. Isabelle was introduced to Iyengar yoga in 1990 while completing a BA in Dance. The connection was immediate and the gradual shift from dance to yoga, a natural progression.” What started as a complementary practice to dance continues to blossom into a self-awareness practice which transcends the performative. For many of us Yoga may begin in the physical body, but it doesn’t end there. Eventually we find a way into our inner domain and begin to examine the layers of thoughts, values and feelings that make us who we are. I can’t think of a better tool to support the actor’s creative process which requires utmost focus and trusting attention to the present moment”.

Isabelle is presently involved in the process of certification with the BKS Iyengar Association of Australia through the Chatswood Yoga Centre where she trains, practices and teaches.
