Samantha Chester

Samantha Chester has a BA in Dance from Nepean and a post-graduate diploma in Movement Studies, NIDA.

Her choreographic/movement work includes Bound Sonata, Adelaide Fringe (2000) Loot (NIDA 2002)  The Men’s Room NIDA (2005), Go Pinocchio Theatre of Image (2006) The Attic, NIDA (2006) Pool No Water Darlinghurst Theatre (2008) Monster Forming (2008) Helpmann Award Winning Thursday’s Child, Monkey Baa (2009) Trace NIDA (2009) R&J Riverside Theatre (2008/2010), Orestia STC (2010), Our Town STC (2010) Three Sisters Cry Havoc (2010) Cut (Company B 2011) City of Bright Lights (TRS 2011) and the Coming World, Darlinghurst Theatre (2011).

She was a company member of Darc Swan Dance Company and Street Theatre Troupe Stretch MK1 touring nationally and internationally. She has taught for Shopfront Theatre for young people, PACT, Ashfield Youth Theatre, NSW Department of Education, NIDA and AFTRS.

In 2004 she received the Mike Walsh fellowship from NIDA and the Dame Joan Sutherland Award to travel to New York to study with American director Anne Bogart and the SITI Company. She is the co-founder and director of Queen Street Studio a not for profit arts organisation that provides subsidised rehearsal space and creative development opportunities for the independent arts community in Sydney. Recently she has worked with the Wallabies rugby union team as a movement consultant and participated in Cultivate a national Director/Choreographic lab with Force Majeure and the Performance Space.
