Directing Interns & Work Experience

ACA accepts two interns annually in an ‘Assistant to the Director’ capacity. This is predominantly an observational and support role, working alongside the director of one of our full-time course student productions.

Interns will also observe day-to-day classwork of the full-time students. The internship best suits an individual interested in learning from a professional director at work and expanding their understanding of the training undertaken by aspiring actors as well as gaining directorial skills and aproaches.

Internships are available to:

• tertiary level students
• graduates or
• skilled and passionate people 

This is your opportunity to consolidate your skills in an educational environment, whilst working with industry professionals. Recent directors have included Craig Ilott, director and actor Jeremy Sims, international director and author, George Ogilvie and Emmy Award winning director, Gale Edwards.

The environment at ACA is unlike any other and the response and feedback we receive reflects this. The levels of industry skills shared and the capacity to learn and grow during an internship offers every individual fantastic opportunities.

WORK EXPERIENCE FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

• Only a limited number of applicants are accepted each year 
• Applicants must be in years 9 -11 
• Students will be placed with our full-time course
• Students are only accepted during a production week 
• Dates available upon enquiry

Each student will gain a behind-the-scenes perspective into actors and directors at work in the leadup to a production and an understanding of the skill and commitment required when training as a professional actor.

We welcome students who are passionate about the creative industries.

All 2010 work experience placements are now full. Applications for next year's work experience open January 2011.
